DSLR Photography equipment on a budget cameras and lenses

In this video, I go through some of my equipment which cost very little, but performs very well.
Many of us cant afford to spend thousands of pounds on gear, and hopefully this video will go some way to proving you dont need to, even with a modest budget, you can pick up superb lenses and cameras that will take fantastic images.

Equipment shown:

Samyang 85mm f.1.4 AE

Cosina 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5

Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8 HSM Macro

Sigma EX 1.4 Teleconverter

Fuji X10

Tom – spot on. Glad that I’m not the only one that believes in getting the
best out of kit that gets the job done. I too bought the Cosina 19-35mm as
a chancer for 65 euros and on my Nikon D700 it gives me great results. I
did need to watch out for flare and needed to over-expose a few shots but
like you say it gives great contrast and is incredible value for money.
Looks cheap, feels cheap ? For the money who cares. Thanks for your video !

Hey really good video! I came here looking for information on the 19-35
lens but found the rest of it very informative as well. Keep it up.

    Hi Tom,
thanks for a great video….I have been just 2 years in the Wedding
Photography game, and have had to sell expensive equipment and get less
expensive just to get by….I had a lovely Nikon D700 when I started, but
ended up switching to Canon simply because there was more choice as regards
secondhand FF cameras….I have also just bought the 19-35 lens that you
talked about simply because I couldn’t afford the 17-40L lens .Great
    video..thanks for your insight!!

Thanks for the kind words.. I never expected this Chanel to have anywhere
near the number of subs or views it has, so I’m thrilled that people like
it. I don’t have the budget, equipment or time that a lot of the other
channels have, so I just do my own thing, if people like it and find it
useful, then that’s mission accomplished. And yes I mainly use Lightroom
for editing. Very rarely use photoshop now.

I’m not implying that there is any wrong with Nikon. I just would like to
see some Canon stuff since that is the gear that I own. Best regards, Eddie

I want to get a 18200mm for my sony NEX? What do you recommend me? Please!

The NEX system is still pretty niche, and cheap lenses ate few and far
between. For an 18-200 you have the choice of either the Sony or a 3rd
party like tamron. I dont have any experience with either, so can’t really
    recomend one over the other.

why did you respond to your own comment

Well, if you want to travel light, your 18-105 will be the best choice as
it covers a large focal length and will cover most situations. Maybe
something like a Sigma 10-20mm if you want something really wide angle, but
    they arent all that cheap.

Unfortunately trying to buy a Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 on ebay at a reasonable
price is easier said than done. People seem to go OTT when bidding on them
and they are going for more than they are worth. Sigma 70-200mm HSM 1 no
Sigma pouch and not in the original Sigma box today for £510.00. I have had
to relent and buy a non macro version from an online used camera equipment
dealer for more then it is probably worth but not as much as they are
    selling for on ebay.

Great videos! I learned so much with your D3100 tutorials. Im using the
nikon 18-105mm lens right now. Im going to climb Mount Kilimandjaro in June
and going to take some pictures along the way up and at the summit, Which
lens would you recommend for landscape pictures knowing that im on a tight
    budget? thanks for the help

Dude I have no idea why you dont have more subscribers, this channel is
great! With all due respect to all the “pro” channels on photography, your
photos and consumer minded approach are both brilliant compared to other
channels with 200k subs! Fed up of all the “get the nikon trinity line up
and be a better photographer, keep up the good work mate!
